Contemporary Renovation #2
for a 1950s Colonial House
This1950's colonial in Old Greenwich, CT was ripe for a make-over. The kitchen was small, dark and unappealing. The dining room was awkwardly divided by a ceiling height change. Both rooms faced the rear yard but did not take advantage of the view and brought very little natural light into the house. In addition to wanting a new kitchen, the homeowners also wanted to open the kitchen/eating area to the living room and entry hall making the majority of the first floor floor. The master bathroom, hall bathroom, and pwder room were also renovated.

New Kitchen
What was once the awkwardly placed cathedral ceiling in half of the dining room is now the ceiling of the working area of the kitchen. New triangular windows at both sides of the exhaust hood flue and new casement windows at both sides of the cooktop make this wall a focal point and also bring in much more western light.Show More
