"BEFORE & AFTER"
at Traditional House with Warp-around Porch
Every once in a while, we are asked to transform an ugly duckling into a swan! This property had lots of positive attributes but the main house looked like it was never finished and subsequent additions were done awkwardly. Read the article (See the link below) to understand how we worked with the site to develop a whole new approach to the house which in turn created new opportunites to transform the house to a more finished, elegant home.
A new, wide, front stair is centered on the main roof gable creating a strong focus for entry into the front of the house from the relocated driveway. The new extension to the left of the front steps includes a new family room with a sun room extension. Matching stones were discovered while excavating and all stone work on the new additions were from on-site material. Both the porch and the driveway wrap around the house to the informal family entry and new garage.
